REVIEWS AND COMMON PROBLEMS WITH 2022 HONDA CRF300L

The Honda CRF300L is a premium adventure bike that is A2-friendly and ideal for green laning. The 286 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces 27 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and maximum torque at 6,500 rpm.

Features include the following:

  • Tubular steel frame with an aluminum swingarm
  • 256 mm wavy disc with two piston caliper up front
  • 220 mm rear disc with single piston Nissin caliper
  • Dual channel ABS with selectable 43 mm rear brakes Showa inverted fork with 260 mm of travel
  • Showa rear shock with 260 mm of travel and Assist and slipper clutch.
  • Reinforced handlebar
  • Side stand
  • Six-speed transmission with a gear position indicator
  • The CRF300L is a scaled-down version of the CRF300 Rally that is intended to replace the CRF250L. It has less bodywork, no windshield, a smaller front disc, a 5 litre smaller fuel tank, and is 11 kg lighter than the Rally.

The new CRF250L has a 37 cc displacement increase, nearly 3 hp more power, 18% more peak torque that appears 250 rpm lower in the rev range, a new frame, a new swingarm, and a weight reduction of 4 kilograms.

In addition, there is a new LCD dashboard with a much-needed gear position indicator, updated mirrors, a new slip/assist clutch, flexibly mounted indicators, a repositioned radiator, and a new rubber-mounted seat.

The wire-spoke 21″ front wheel accepts an IRC 80/100 tire, while the 18″ rear wheel accepts a 120/80.

Accessories consist of a 38-liter top box and a sump guard.

KNOWN 2022 HONDA CRF300L MODIFICATIONS AND TUNING

I did something similar with the 250 Rally, and I figured it was time to do the same with the 300 L. Again, all of this is my personal opinion based on my riding style, budget, skill level, and local riding conditions*.

* The riding conditions are most likely the most important factor. We have plenty of gravel roads, but true off-roading is difficult to come by legally.

My opinion is meaningless on the internet, and you must decide for yourself. I have to keep reminding myself that this is supposed to be a LIGHT 300 cc do-anything-go-anywhere worry-free motorcycle, not an over farkled BMW GS space craft. To be honest, NONE of the mods are absolutely necessary.

For some reason, the CRF 300L and Rally have extremely high seat heights (over 35 inches) “and taller than the AFRICA TWIN?! ), which is unusual for a small displacement beginner bike. So we have some options to help you get your feet back on the ground.

Fits both the standard and rally versions of the CRF 300L 2021-2023.

Please keep in mind that all lowering links change the rear shock linkage leverage ratio, effectively softening the rear shock spring. And it’s already too soft for most riders, as it’s designed for a beginner rider weighing 100 pounds. If you ride primarily on the street, it won’t be a big deal, but if you ride off-road on loose surfaces, it will cause the bike to plow through corners rather than carving them. If it makes sense, the front end will push.

These are brand new HONDA seats that have been hand shaped and re-formed to lower the seat height by 2.5 inches.” There is still one-half “There is plenty of foam cushion in the main seating area, so normal ADV riding will be fine, but if you are a hard-charging off-roader who frequently gets airborne, landings may be a little firm!:-)

The suspension is sprung far too lightly, and the damping is insufficient, according to CRF 300l and Rally owners. The bike appears to be set up for a beginner rider weighing 100 pounds; here’s how to fix that. Increasing the spring tension or adjusting the pre-load will not solve the problem.
