REVIEWS AND COMMON PROBLEMS WITH 2022 HONDA CRF1000L ADVENTURE SPORTS

The range-topping Africa Twin Adventure Sports is powered by a liquid-cooled 998 cc parallel twin engine that produces 93.9 bike at just 7,500 rpm and maximum torque at 6,000 rpm.

Features include the following:

  • 256 mm wavy disc with Nissin single piston caliper at the rear
  • Rear dual-channel ABS with an off mode
  • 45 mm Showa adjustable upside-down fork with 224 mm travel
  • a rear adjustable shock with 240 mm of travel
  • 7-stage traction control with an off position
  • Tour, Urban, Gravel, and Custom riding modes LCD dash LED lighting, heated grips
  • Helping hand and slipper clutch
  • Adjustable seat width of 900 mm to 920 mm; six-speed transmission with gear position indicator
  • For 2018, Honda upgraded the already-impressive Africa Twin adventure bike, including the 998 cc parallel twin engine and optional automatic transmission, then added a larger fuel tank, taller suspension, and ample protection to create the Adventure Sports (ATAS).

It has a 5,4-litre larger fuel tank, a 50-mm higher seat, 20-mm more travel, an 80-mm taller fixed screen, engine bars, heated grips, and a larger belly pan than the Africa Twin, but it is 13 kg heavier.

The 2018 updates to the original Adventure Sports model include a new dashboard, improved mid range from a new airbox, a 2.3 kg lighter Lithium battery, improved footpegs, four riding modes, improved exhaust sound, auto-cancelling indicators, and seven levels of traction control.

As before, the £950 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) automatic transmission adds 10 kg to the vehicle’s curb weight. The front wire spoked 21″ wheel has a Dunlop Trailmax 90/80 tire while the rear 18″ wheel has a 150/70.

Accessories consist of knobby tires, a center stand, a low seat, LED fog lights, panniers, a top box, a quickshifter, and a sports silencer.
