REVIEWS AND COMMON PROBLEMS WITH 2007 DERBI CROSS CITY 50

DERBI CROSS CITY 50 – IS IT GOOD ENOUGH?

The Derbi Cross City ( Senda) has been on the market since 1993, and many 16-year-olds, particularly taller riders, enjoy its enduro motorcycle appearance, good handling chassis, and revvy two-stroke engine.

Derbi Cross City 50 models from 2000 onwards have an all-new alloy beam frame, and in 2005, a variety of extra versions were introduced, including the Derbi Senda Xtreme, Derbi Senda Supermoto, Derbi Senda DRD Pro, and Derbi Senda Racing in 50cc sizes, as well as a Derbi Senda 125 four stroke Supermoto/enduro. Modern Sendas are road-biased motorcycles that are nevertheless a lot of fun.

DERBI CROSS CITY 50 specs

Bike Quality and Brakes

The Derbi Senda 50 (Cross City) is available in numerous variants, including a Supermoto model, a DRD Limited Edition with gold anodized Marzocchi forks, and the Xtreme 50R, which has spoked wheels, MX mudguards, and knobbly tyres for off-road use. All models share the same basic alloy beam frame and long swingarm, but the brakes, suspension, and wheels vary, and the handling is remarkable for a 50cc machine.

Engine

The Derbi Senda 50 (Cross City) has a peppy enough motor, at least in de-restricted mode, which is how most 16-year-olds would ride it. On a good day, current Derbi Senda 50s can reach nearly 60mph, which is quick enough to put a smile on your face. The older Derbi Senda 50 had a top speed of 50 mph and was more than capable on the dirt. Unfortunately, UK laws mandate a top speed of 30mph, making the restricted 6-speed Derbi Senda 50 difficult to ride. But it has a tough, dependable water-cooled engine.

DERBI CROSS CITY 50 review

Build Quality

Derbi Senda 50 models produced after Piaggio’s acquisition are in a different league than early versions, with much enhanced build quality. The suspension and braking components on the Derbi Senda 50 series are of the highest quality, and some elements, such as the chrome exhaust on the DRD Racing SM, are far above the normal standard for the 50cc motorcycle class.

Our Derbi Senda 50 owner reviews are fairly mediocre. A few owners have expressed dissatisfaction with the build quality. One customer complains about severe engine issues, while another blames their bike for the tax disc coming out and them being hauled over by the police. In this case, we’d look into installing a better tax disc.

Value for Money

When you reach 16 and want one of these unique mopeds, there is only one problem: the price. At roughly £2500, the Derbi Senda 50 range is beyond of most sixteen-year-olds’ financial reach. The Derbi Senda 125 bikes are little more expensive, but £2800-ish is still a reasonable price for a new 125 trailie. No matter how amazing the Senda’s ride is, you just know that a cheap internet trailbike for half the price will entice some.

Instrumentation

Some varieties of the Derbi Senda 50 motorcycle, like as the Derbi Senda Xtreme Supermotard, appear breathtakingly featured, with their dark black paint, twin headlamp front fairing, and sophisticated console – any youngster would be happy to own one. Others, like as the Derbi Senda 125 R, are more basic, tough all-arounders with features such as a baggage rack, twin headlamps, and twin mirrors. Overall, the equipment on the Derbi Senda series is good.
