The Italian automaker Piaggio & C. SpA (Piaggio [pjaddo]) produces a variety of two-wheeled motor vehicles as well as small commercial vehicles under the following seven brands: Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Derbi, and Scarabeo. Italy’s Pontedera is home to its corporate headquarters. Rinaldo Piaggio established the business in 1884, initially producing locomotives and railroad cars.

In 2014, the subsidiaries of Piaggio collectively employed 7,053 people and generated 519,700 vehicles. The manufacturer operates in more than 50 countries and has six centers for research and development.
